24:14 “现在你们要敬畏耶和华，诚心实意地事奉他，将你们列祖在大河那边和在埃及所事奉的神除掉，去事奉耶和华。
24:14 “Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD .
24:15 若是你们以事奉耶和华为不好，今日就可以选择所要事奉的；是你们列祖在大河那边所事奉的神呢？是你们所住这地的亚摩利人的神呢？至于我和我家，我们必定事奉耶和华。”
24:15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD .”
24:16 百姓回答说：“我们断不敢离弃耶和华去事奉别神，
24:16 Then the people answered, “Far be it from us to forsake the LORD to serve other gods!
24:17 因耶和华我们的 神，曾将我们和我们列祖从埃及地的为奴之家领出来，在我们眼前行了那些大神迹，在我们所行的道上，所经过的诸国，都保护了我们。
24:17 It was the LORD our God himself who brought us and our fathers up out of Egypt, from that land of slavery, and performed those great signs before our eyes. He protected us on our entire journey and among all the nations through which we traveled.
24:18 耶和华又把住此地的亚摩利人，都从我们面前赶出去。所以我们必事奉耶和华，因为他是我们的 神。”
24:18 And the LORD drove out before us all the nations, including the Amorites, who lived in the land. We too will serve the LORD , because he is our God.”
24:19 约书亚对百姓说：“你们不能事奉耶和华，因为他是圣洁的 神，是忌邪的 神，必不赦免你们的过犯罪恶。
24:19 Joshua said to the people, “You are not able to serve the LORD . He is a holy God; he is a jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and your sins.
24:20 你们若离弃耶和华去事奉外邦神，耶和华在降福之后，必转而降祸与你们，把你们灭绝。”
24:20 If you forsake the LORD and serve foreign gods, he will turn and bring disaster on you and make an end of you, after he has been good to you.”
24:21 百姓回答约书亚说：“不然，我们定要事奉耶和华。”
24:21 But the people said to Joshua, “No! We will serve the LORD .”
24:22 约书亚对百姓说：“你们选定耶和华要事奉他，你们自己作见证吧！”他们说：“我们愿意作见证。”
24:22 Then Joshua said, “You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen to serve the LORD .” “Yes, we are witnesses,” they replied.
24:23 约书亚说：“你们现在要除掉你们中间的外邦神，专心归向耶和华以色列的 神。”
24:23 “Now then,” said Joshua, “throw away the foreign gods that are among you and yield your hearts to the LORD , the God of Israel.”
24:24 百姓回答约书亚说：“我们必事奉耶和华我们的 神，听从他的话。”
24:24 And the people said to Joshua, “We will serve the LORD our God and obey him.”
24:25 当日，约书亚就与百姓立约，在示剑为他们立定律例、典章。
24:25 On that day Joshua made a covenant for the people, and there at Shechem he drew up for them decrees and laws.
24:26 约书亚将这些话都写在 神的律法书上；又将一块大石头，立在橡树下耶和华的圣所旁边。
24:26 And Joshua recorded these things in the Book of the Law of God. Then he took a large stone and set it up there under the oak near the holy place of the LORD .
24:27 约书亚对百姓说：“看哪！这石头可以向我们作见证，因为是听见了耶和华所吩咐我们的一切话，倘或你们背弃你们的 神，这石头就可以向你们作见证(“倘或云云”或作“所以要向你们作见证，免得你们背弃耶和华你们的 神”)。”
24:27 “See!” he said to all the people. “This stone will be a witness against us. It has heard all the words the LORD has said to us. It will be a witness against you if you are untrue to your God.” ( Buried in the Promised Land )
24:28 于是约书亚打发百姓各归自己的地业去了。
24:28 Then Joshua sent the people away, each to his own inheritance.
24:29 这些事以后，耶和华的仆人嫩的儿子约书亚，正一百一十岁就死了。
24:29 After these things, Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the LORD , died at the age of a hundred and ten.
24:30 以色列人将他葬在他地业的境内，就是在以法莲山地的亭拿西拉，在迦实山的北边。
24:30 And they buried him in the land of his inheritance, at Timnath Serah in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash.
24:31 约书亚在世和约书亚死后，那些知道耶和华为以色列人所行诸事的长老还在的时候，以色列人事奉耶和华。
24:31 Israel served the LORD throughout the lifetime of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him and who had experienced everything the LORD had done for Israel.
